I was just wondering if anyone was having as much trouble with the p-oximeters as I was. On multiple trucks it seems it is hit or miss whether they read. I have noticed that if I clean the copper posts inside and then leave the p-ox connected I have less occurences of fallure but still have some problems. If someone has a better system please let me know. I just think with these if we stop disconnecting them every call they won't get as dirty. Ideas Please.

I was told during my clearance to leave them connected because of that... Though someone else from my academy was told to disconnect them. I leave it connected... I do know that if you bundle up the cord a lot (and produce bends in them) that can also shorten the life of the cord.

Thanks. I don't bend the cords because every wire has an inherent bend and if you mess with that they break (especially XBOX cables)

The vender is going back to the nelcor because they are replacing so many. The repair guy also said that people need to stop removing the etco2 covers because it is causing problems.

I hope that helps. It seemsed the nelcor had less failures. I don't think we are taking off the covers. I know that 2 on the trucks I worked, fell off. I don't know why a crew would take it off. I doubt they did. By the way most haven't had the covers on since the first few months, so what kind of problems are they having?

I don't think the case is that people are removing the covers. I think it is more that the flimsy things break off. At least, that's been my experience. I'll say it again. FLIMSY.

I agree with the gerneral statements made about the pulse ox. it **##$$!!!! (inhales dramatically, crating a tight seal) . one more thing....can we ALL have the bigger monitor saddle bags? 10#s of stuff in a 5# bag. PLZZZZZ!!!!

The Nellcor plugs are a little better. I personally would rather have dirty contacts from removing the plug on every call than snapping the entire thing off by leaving it attached and banging it into something.
