Obviously I am not a great user of the forum here but felt inclined to take a look this afternoon. THe King LT is similar to the Combitube that was developed by Dr Frass. The King LT was developed I believe in Great Britain for a similar purpose. Unlike the Combitube wich if dual lument the King LT is single lumen and rlies on the fact that 99% of the Combitubes are esophageal placements. The King is designed only to be placed esophageally and would serve as a superglottic device just as the Combitub e does. The benefit is that the tube is a bit more pliable and is less likely to cause treachal trauma than a Combitube. The down side is that if it is by chance placed into the trachea itcould not be used and would have to replaced.

Sounds like the bad kind of outweighs the good. We're just getting to the point where some of the ER physicians are used to the combitubes, and a few of them have even left them in place. Why switch, and have to start the learning curve all over?
